Global Commercial Vehicle Supplier with Large Florence, Ky., Operation

Makes Donation to Boxing Program for Underprivileged Youth

CINCINNATI, July 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When it comes to giving back to the community, ArvinMeritor Inc. (NYSE: ARM) pulls no punches. The premier global automotive and commercial vehicle supplier, with Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket headquarters in nearby Florence, Ky., donated 60 pairs of professional boxing gloves to underprivileged youth boxers of the Cincinnati Golden Gloves and Police Athletic League (PAL) Program. The event was held at the Cincinnati Recreation Center (Millvale gym). The event was co-sponsored by the Cincinnati Golden Gloves/PAL program, the Cincinnati Recreation Center and ArvinMeritor.

The Golden Gloves/PAL Program offers thousands of inner city youth from at-risk communities a structured program that trains them in the sport of boxing while teaching them critical skills for the main event of life.

About the Cincinnati Golden Gloves/PAL Program

The Cincinnati boxing program is a non-profit organization that is comprised of three boxing franchises: Cincinnati Golden Gloves, Greater Cincinnati Police Athletic League and U.S.A. Boxing. Teams of volunteer trainers mentor and influence young people as they develop character and learn to respect their communities and the law at an early age. Since 1989, Cincinnati's amateur boxing program has produced 21 U.S. Championship gold medalists, eight Junior Olympic National Champions and 16 National Golden Gloves Champions, in addition to six Olympians in the past three Olympic Games.
