Meritor® Announces EX+™ L Air Disc Brakes as Standard for Freightliner New Cascadia® Trucks

TROY, Mich., March 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Meritor® (NYSE: MTOR) announced today that EX+ L air disc brakes will be standard on all wheel positions for Daimler Trucks North America's (DTNA) Freightliner new Cascadia model to further enhance safety and performance beginning in the second quarter of 2018.

"We are proud to continue to be the preferred braking solution for Daimler Trucks North America," said T.J. Reed, vice president, Front Drivetrain for Meritor. "The leading performance of Meritor's EX+ L air disc brakes will complement DTNA's Detroit Assurance system as fleets look to improve safety through the adoption of advanced technology."

The EX+ L has been weight-optimized without sacrificing performance and is the industry's lightest truck air disc brake. It features a gear-synchronized twin piston design that adjusts both pistons simultaneously, resulting in better performance and uniform pad wear. The internal adjuster mechanism's double-sealing technology does not require periodic lubrication and enhances reliability by keeping contaminants out.

With its robust design, Meritor offers industry-leading warranty coverage of five-year/500,000 miles/parts when specified with Meritor MA761 exclusive friction material.

"With standard position on Freightliner Cascadia models, Meritor has the opportunity to further collaborate with DTNA to deliver the best-performing, safest vehicles for end-user customers," Reed said.
