SULLY-SUR-LOIRE, France, June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ArvinMeritor,
Inc. (NYSE: ARM) announced today that its Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business
group will begin production of the company's first Electronic Door Control
Module (EDCM) for a popular European passenger car that will launch in May
2006. The company plans to produce approximately 650,000 units per year.
"The launch of the Electronic Door Control Module into the market will
send a significant message to our customers that ArvinMeritor is aggressively
combining electronics technology with the company's leading door system
product lines for added functionality," said Charles Hopson, vice president of
Engineering for Door Systems. "Developed completely in-house, the EDCM is the
only control module produced by a single company that designs and manufactures
many of the components it controls."
The EDCM integrates electronic control functions previously found in two
separate products into a single module. It assumes control of the window
operation, including express up and down function, anti-squeeze sensing and
prevention, and comfort closing capabilities. It also controls functionality
for the electric, moveable, memory, heated and fold-away rearview mirror, as
well as the indicator and courtesy lights. Additionally, the EDCM has been
designed to allow future integration of latch electronics including lock,
unlock, child locking, and hands-free or electric-release operation.
